Do not brush your teeth after eating!

Many people assume that a toothbrush be done immediately after eating. This is not true, because the right toothbrush is 20 minutes after eating. "It should brush your teeth after every meal for the bacteria did not develop in the mouth. But the right toothbrush is 20 minutes after eating," said Prof. Dr. Melanie S. drg Djamil, Mbiomed, dental and oral health experts, the media gathering '8 Action Protection Teeth and Mouth 'in Penang Bistro, Jakarta, Prof. Melanie explains, there is saliva in the mouth (saliva) that is a buffer effect (counterweight). At dinner, the normal pH of saliva, which was originally 6.8 will drop until it reaches the critical pH, which is 4.
When you brush your teeth immediately after eating, the saliva is a natural structure will be damaged and affect the functioning of the digestive process. "We recommend that you wait 15 to 20 minutes, so that saliva pH back to normal first, then brush your teeth," says a dentist who is also professor of the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Trisakti.
Besides disturbing the digestive process due to damage to the structure of saliva, according to Prof. Melanie, if people are accustomed to brush your teeth immediately after eating, it can cause weakening of the tooth enamel. It will be further exacerbated if a person ate food and beverages that are acidic.
To overcome this, Prof. Melanie recommends should always rinse with boiled water after every meal. This could accelerate the pH of saliva in the mouth back to normal, so not had time to weaken tooth enamel.
